Key Considerations
• URLs you enter as part of
Insert Hyperlink window or
Insert Image window are checked for compliance with the
RFC 2396 (Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI): Generic Syntax), which describes the syntax and format of a URI. If the hyperlink is found to be syntactically invalid,
Windchill RV&S will not create the hyperlink. The SPACE character is the only character which, if present in the hyperlink, is invalid as per
RFC 2396 but is allowed by
Windchill RV&S.
| This validation only applies to hyperlinks that have standard protocols. For example, HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP. This does not apply to hyperlinks that have a non-standard protocol; for example, Rational DOORS. |
• To follow a link in the rich content field, click the link. If inline editing is enabled, CTRL+click the link.
• If document versioning is enabled, you can insert hyperlinks to versioned items. To type the ID of a versioned item, use the format Live Item ID-major.minor. For example, type 184-1.2.
