To set connection preferences in the GUI
1. Select File > Preferences. The Preferences Configuration dialog box displays.
2. In the tree pane, click Windchill RV&S Client > Connection, Workflows and Documents > Connection, or Configuration Management > Connection. The Connection pane displays.

If you specify prompting for the user name or password, keep the following points in mind:
If the security scheme at your site is Windows Single Signon (NTSS) the Prompt for: User Name and Prompt for: Password options are ignored unless you specify a user name that is different than the logged in user name. For information about your security scheme, see your administrator.
If you are connected to multiple Windchill RV&S servers, you will be prompted whenever you run a command that requires a server connection.
Connection Preferences Options (GUI)
Option
Description
Host Name
Type the name (for example, xyz-server) or numerical IP address (for example, 1.2.34.56) of the default Windchill RV&S server.
When setting connection preferences for the Windchill RV&S client, this host name is used to access help on the server. A valid default connection is required to access the online help. If the specified server is a proxy (defined in the Servers > Proxies preference), then help is retrieved from the proxy server.
Port
Type the port number, for example, 7001.
When setting connection preferences for the Windchill RV&S client, this port is used to access help on the server. A valid default connection is required to access the online help. Prompt for Host Name and Port
Select this option to be prompted for the Windchill RV&S server name and port number each time you log in.
User Name
Type the user name you want to set as the default user.
Password
Type a password for the user.
The password that you enter here is encrypted and stored in the IntegrityClient.rc file. The encryption key is stored in a file named IntegrityClientSecrets.rc, located in your default home folder. If required, you can move the IntegrityClientSecrets.rc file to a more secure location.
If you move this file, set the value of the IntegrityClient.secrets.fileLocation property to the absolute path of the new location of this file. This property is located in the IntegrityClient.rc file.
Prompt for: User Name
Select this option to be prompted for the default user name each time you log in.
Prompt for: Password
Select this option to be prompted for the default password each time you log in.
