To increment the revision for an item (GUI only)
1. To increment the revision for an item, select one or more items in the Items view, and then select Item > Increment Revision.
2. Choose the part of the revision number to increment:
◦ Major, for example, 1.5 to 2.0.
◦ Minor, for example, 1.5 to 1.6. By default, the minor revision is incremented.
3. By default, the Skip if unchanged since last revision is enabled. This means that the revision is not incremented when the item is unchanged. To force the increment to occur even when the item is unchanged, disable the option.

When incrementing a revision, an item with no previous revision number is considered to contain changes. Therefore, if you enable Skip if unchanged since last revision, an initial revision number is created.
4. Click OK.
