Upgrade Calendar and Timing
• PTC will publish the Upgrade and Update Calendar on the Product Release Calendar and update it every 90 days. The calendar provides a 12-month outlook of events, typically including Windchill+ patch deployments maintenance, platform updates, and Windchill upgrades.
• The typical cadence for Upgrade and Update events are as follows:
◦ Windchill+ patch deployment – 2 patch update releases per year
◦ Maintenance – as required
◦ Windchill upgrade – 18 to 24 months
Customers must address any changes required to systems within their control, including customizations, client software updates, and so on, as per the compatibility matrix for the target version and the details provided in the planning guide, during each upgrade or update event.
Upgrade Timing, Notifications, and Actions
The Upgrade and Update Calendar is published on the Product Release Calendar and updated every 90 days. The Calendar provides information on the upcoming change cycle, along with information on the following events for visibility. For each change cycle, PTC publishes a Planning Guide that provides additional details such as planned changes, RACI, and timelines. Customers must mark the calendar and plan backward, considering potential changes to PTC or the compatibility of the third-party components with the target release.
