About the Windchill+ Service Guide
The Windchill+ Service Guide is intended to capture critical information about the Windchill+ service offerings that is not otherwise conveyed by either the higher-level Legal Documents or the detail-level Help Center. The Service Guide essentially captures the who-does-what-and-when versus. the how which is conveyed in the Help Center, or the what-is-it from the Service Description and supporting contractual terms.
The Service Guide has been organized in eight major sections that roughly align with a customer's journey of experience in learning about purchasing, implementing, and operating a Windchill+ solution:
• Customer Onboarding
This section covers topics that will be of immediate interest for customers that have just completed a purchase. These include the standard and optional environment types, how access will be granted and managed, and required configuration data.
• Partner Engagement
When implementing a PLM solution, most customers find the expert assistance of a qualified partner to be critical to a successful project. PTC strongly recommends working with one of our certified partners on any Windchill+ implementation. This section covers topics that are relevant to partner access, solution development, and certification.
• Configure, Customize, Test
Windchill+ is a highly configurable and customizable PLM system, with many of the same capabilities that customers have relied upon for decades. Windchill+ also brings new best practice guidance and constraints that have been distilled from PTC's 10 years+ of operating Windchill as a hosted offering for over 100 customers of all sizes. This section provides an overview of how to maximize the benefits of these improvements.
• Integrate
Windchill+ provides a comprehensive integration framework, both using out-of-the-box features and technology, and through an active partner ecosystem of integration solutions. This section provides guidance on the most effective implementation of these capabilities.
• Load/Migrate Data
Windchill+ supports migration paths from both existing Windchill implementations, from both on-premises or PTC-hosted versions, and from non-Windchill PLM solutions. This section addresses all supported migration paths, and provides guidance on how to engage with qualified partners to support these efforts.
• Administer, Maintain
Post-go-live, the ongoing administration and maintenance of the PLM solution is a joint effort shared by the customer and PTC. This section clearly defines roles, responsibilities, and supporting capabilities.
• Update/Upgrade
Windchill+ offers customers tremendous benefits related to version upgrades and regular updates. This section covers the upgrade cadence, process, rolls and responsibilities, and related subjects.
