Exporting the Secret Key
The information provided in this section is applicable only when you are upgrading from a Windchill 11.0 source server which is configured with file server.
*
You must export the Secret Key from the source Windchill server before exporting the Source database and LDAP structure.
The process of exporting the Secret Key from a source server to the target server is achieved through a command line utility. The utility is available as a downloadable zip on this article page on PTC Support site. The article page also provides additional details about the utility.
Consider the following points before you begin:
If you are updating the file server configuration during the Gather Upgrade Properties phase in the Upgrade Manager using the Update File Server Configuration option from the File Server drop down, export the Secret key.
Ensure that the Windchill server is up and running for a successful export.
To export the Secret Key execute the following command from Windchill shell on the source server:
windchill wt.fv.tools.PreUpgradeUtility -u=<username> -p=<password> -t=<16 character token> -e
Where,
<username> and <password> are the site administrator’s user name and password.
The token is any random string consisting of alphanumeric characters and must be 16 characters long. Ensure to use the same token for importing the Secret key at the target server.
The Secret Key is generated at <Windchill>\CCSTools\Key.
