To create a domain, use the following procedure:
1. Click the create new domain icon from the Domains pane of the Policy Administration utility. You can also click New from the right-click action menu on a domain. The New Domain window opens.
2. Enter a name (required) and description. Both fields have a maximum length of 200 characters.
3. Select the context for which you want to create a domain. The context of the new domain may or may not be selectable.
If All Contexts is selected on the Domains pane, the following rule determines whether you can select a new context.
If the context of the domain under which you chose to create the new domain has a child context, then you can change the context for the new domain to that child context. Some contexts, such as application contexts, do not have child contexts and therefore the context cannot be changed if the chosen parent domain belongs to an application context. Other contexts that do not have children contexts are the organization context that was created to host the Windchill installation and the Site context.
If Single Context is selected on the Domains pane, then the context for a new domain is the same as the context selected in the Single Context search box and cannot be changed.
If the context can be changed, click the find icon to search for a different context using the Find Context window.
4. Click OK to create the domain and close the window.
To edit a domain, use the following procedure:
1. Select a domain to edit from the Domains table in the Policy Administration utility and click the edit icon . You can also select Edit from the right-click actions for the domain. The Edit Domain window opens.
2. Edit the Name or Description fields.
*
The Context field cannot be changed after the domain has been created.
3. Click OK to update the domain and close the window.
