Setting Uniqueness Level for Windchill Objects
Product: Windchill
Release: 11.1 F000
Benefit
Allows you to set object uniqueness at organization level or site level as per business requirement.
Additional Details
When installing or upgrading your Windchill system, you can set the uniqueness level of Windchill objects at organization level or site level, that is whether the created objects should be unique per organization or across the entire site. This is a one-time configuration and can be set during installation or upgrade only. Organization level uniqueness, the default, allows the you to create objects with duplicate identities across the organization. Site level uniqueness allows you to use a single standardized numbering scheme across the site.
If the uniqueness level in your current Windchill instance is configured at site level, you can change it to organization level during an upgrade only. However, the reverse is not supported.
The uniqueness of an object is determined by combination of Object number, Organization reference and Namespace.
In the case of Organization level uniqueness, objects created are unique to their owning organization. If uniqueness level is set at Site, objects created are unique to the default organization.
