Allocating a Resource to a Control Characteristic in the Process Plan Explorer
In a process, part, assembly, or system, a control characteristic is any functional feature or geometrical / material property that can be qualified, quantified or measured, and for which variation or deviation control is required.
The validation of a control characteristic can be dependent on certain processing resources. For example, when a specific skill or tool is needed to verify the control characteristic.
The following processing resources can be allocated to a control characteristic.

Tooling

Resources must be allocated to an operation before they can be allocated to a control characteristic. Resources that have already been allocated to a control characteristic appear in the Resources column of the Control Characteristics tab.

To allocate a resource to a control characteristic:
1. In the Process Plan Explorer, select the operation with the control characteristic allocation that you want to allocate a resource to.
2. Select the Control Characteristics tab.
3. Select the control characteristic allocation you want to allocate a resource to.
4. Click the allocate resources icon .
A list of resources that have been allocated to the operation appears.
5. Use the Allocated? column to select the resources to allocate to the control characteristic.
6. Click OK.
