SolidWorks Toolbox Parts
This section describes SolidWorks Toolbox parts in Windchill.
Parts that do not exist in Windchill
Parts that do exist in Windchill
Parts that already exist in the Workspace
When using a Toolbox part that has not been used before, it will be “silently” checked in to the Windchill Library to which the preference Define Library Used by Application is set. If a library is not set in this preference, the part will be treated as normal part and the silent check in will not happen. When using a Toolbox part that has been used before and is checked in, that is not available in the workspace but is available in Windchill, the Toolbox part will be silently downloaded to the workspace and will be added to the Assembly. In this case, use the Update command with replace Content option in order to snap the newly generated version in the Windchill File System to the existing Toolbox part already in Windchill. This silent addition of a Toolbox part existing in Windchill is independent of the Define Library Used by Application preference setting. When a Toolbox part is used, SolidWorks automatically checks the cache location (i.e,. the \Create parts in this folder\ location) to see whether the part has already been created. If it has, then it does not try to create/overwrite the existing part, given that the cache location will be programmatically set to the Windchill File System.
