Security Labels and Desktop Integration
When using Desktop Integration, security labels can be set during new document creation, on the Set Security Labels step of the New Document window, just as when you are creating a new document within your Windchill solution.
*
When creating a new document using Desktop Integration, you cannot set a security label which would restrict you from accessing the document once it has been created. To create the document within Desktop Integration, you must set a security label for which you are cleared. To create the document with a security label you are not cleared for, you must create the document within your Windchill solution instead of Desktop Integration.
The Insert Windchill Attribute Field right-click actions menu in Microsoft Word allows you to insert a Windchill attribute, including security labels, into your document content. For more information, see Inserting a Windchill Document Attribute in a Microsoft Office File.
Security labels on a document cannot be changed from within Desktop Integration, but can be changed using the Edit Security Labels action within your Windchill solution. The next time that the document is accessed using Desktop Integration, the inserted attribute field in the document is automatically updated.
If you do not want the security label attribute field in a Microsoft Excel file to update when the Windchill attribute is changed, you can break the link to the Windchill attribute. For more information, see Inserting a Windchill Document Attribute in a Microsoft Office File.
For more information on using Desktop Integration, see About Windchill Desktop Integration.
