Managing *.sd_gfx Files for Creo Elements/Direct Modeling
Starting with Creo Elements/Direct Modeling 20.7.1.0 and Windchill Workgroup Manager 13.0.2.1, you can enable or disable the creation of *.sd_gfx graphic files when saving a new file to Windchill using the manage.sd_gfx.files preference in the wgmclient.ini file.
When set to Yes (default), the *sd.gfx files are created along with the primary content.
When set to No, the *.sd_gfx files are not created.
When the manage.sd_gfx.files preference is set to No, the *.sd_gfx files are not loaded into the workspace local directory while opening the files from Windchill. This setting reduces the time taken to load files in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling.
However, you cannot change the load type to Lightweight while opening or after opening the file in Creo Elements/Direct Modeling as the *.sd_gfx files are not available. If you want to load the model in lightweight, set the manage.sd_gfx.files preference to Yes.
Open from Windchill window
*
When the preference manage.sd_gfx.files is set to No, you must not use any workspace that contains *.sd_gfx files.
When you set the preferences as shown, an error message appears during the startup of Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, preventing the files to be opened from Windchill:
manage.sd_gfx.files=No
load.type.default=Lightweight
To avoid this issue, either set load.type.default to a value other than Lightweight, or set manage.sd_gfx.files to Yes.
