Variant Equivalent Links
A variant equivalent link connects parts in a configurable mBOM to their corresponding parts in a manufacturing variant derived from that mBOM. Use variant equivalent links to connect parts in a configurable manufacturing BOM (mBOM) to their corresponding parts in a manufacturing variant. These links establish traceability between generic configurations and their derived variants.
A variant equivalent link does not apply to engineering BOMs (eBOMs). It is specific to configurable mBOMs and their manufacturing variants. The link ensures that each part in the configurable mBOM has a corresponding part in the variant mBOM, maintaining consistency across configurations.
Variant equivalent links are created or updated only when you use the 
Generate Mass Downstream BOMs and

• Equivalent links exist between parts in configurable eBOM and mBOM structures.
• When a manufacturing variant is generated, additional links are created between configurable mBOMs and their manufacturing variants. These are called variant equivalent links.
