Generating a Work Instruction
To generate a work instruction using the Process Plan Browser, use one of the following methods:
Right-click a parent or child operation, or a process plan and select Work Instructions > Generate Work Instructions.
On the information page of a process plan, select Default Work Instructions from the Actions menu.
On the information page of an operation, select Work Instructions from the Actions menu.
The work instruction opens in a separate window or tab. You can view the work instruction details for the parent and each child operation in separate tables. Each operation displays the related figures and annotations.
*
For a process plan associated with a co-produce object, the generated work instruction also displays the Produced Parts column. This column displays the part number of the primary and secondary parts used to create the co-produce object. The primary part information is displayed in bold and italics. The secondary part information appears in normal font. The primary and secondary part information reflects the latest version. The primary and secondary part information appears as a link. If you click the link, the part information page opens. If you hover over the link, you can see the identity of the part.
You can click a figure in a work instruction, to display it in Creo View. When figures are created from the parent operation (the com.ptc.windchill.mpmlink.manageCreoIllustrationFromParentOperation property is set to true), only the selected figure opens. However, when figures are created for individual operations, (the property is set to false), all the figures created for the associated illustration are displayed in Creo View. For more information on the property, see Managing Illustrations from Parent Operations.
*
If the illustration was created in Creo Illustrate, the image is read-only in the work instruction.
Creating illustrations for work instructions is done by creating an illustration for an operation. Images can also be added to an operation as document file, and then selected to be displayed as work instruction. Documents that have been selected to appear in the work instruction are noted on the Documentation tab.
*
Repositioning and annotation updates made in Creo View are not saved for those illustrations created in Creo Illustrate.
Key Points
You can use the Generate Work Instructions action in the Process Plan Browser to generate a work instruction. One or more assemblies can be related to a process plan. If you apply part tags and generate a work instruction from the Process Plan Browser, the work instruction is generated directly. The system displays the Various entities in the work instruction according to the applied part tags. For more information, see Using the Assign Part Tags Action in Process Plan Browser.
