Manage Multiple Deliverables in a Linked Plan
You can create multiple deliverables and link them to an activity. When the plan is scheduled, the Linked Deliverable attribute actively manages the deliverables.
The following table explains how deliverables are managed and tracked within a plan based on whether the Linked Deliverable attribute is set to true or false.
Linked Deliverable=false
Linked Deliverable=true
Creation and Scheduling:
Deliverables can be created and scheduled independently
Scheduling attributes are assigned individually to each deliverable
Existing deliverables' scheduling attributes can be edited
Deliverables can be assigned to multiple plan activities
Tracking Progress:
Each deliverable is tracked individually with its own Deadline, Estimated Finish Date, and % Work Complete.
Plan activities remain unchanged and do not roll up progress or completion from deliverables
Creation and Scheduling:
Deliverables inherit scheduling attributes from the plan activity (for example, Estimated Start Date, Estimated Finish Date, Deadline, Owner, and % Work Complete).
Modified scheduling attributes on the plan activity are synchronized across all linked deliverables
Unassigned deliverables can only be assigned to a single plan activity
The plan activity picker restricts assignment to eligible plan activities that are in (Scheduled) status and not already linked to the same deliverable
Existing deliverables' scheduling attributes such as Estimated Start Date, Estimated Finish Date, Deadline, Owner, and % Work Complete cannot be edited.
Tracking Progress:
Progress is tracked at the plan activity, and deliverables are synchronized accordingly
Deliverables are marked as Complete when the associated plan activity is marked as Complete.
Reassignment:
Deliverables can be reassigned only if the current plan activity remains eligible
Scheduling attributes are properly synchronized upon reassignment
