License Generation Resolution Rules
License Generation and Resolution Rules
When a single user is entitled to licenses belonging to multiple generations of licenses, the effective license is the one that belongs to the latest generation of licenses. For example, a user is assigned to a Base License from the Enterprise generation of licenses as well as the Windchill Standard Author license from ePLM. Here the effective license is Windchill Standard Author license from ePLM generation of licenses. The count of licenses is reduced for those licenses that are not counted as effective licenses. This rule is valid for any combination of different generations of licenses. Few examples of the licenses that belongs to various license generations are:
The Module and the ePLM generation of licenses.
The Module and the Enterprise generation of licenses.
The Enterprise and the ePLM generation of licenses.

Assignment to an ADU base license followed by assignment to higher ranked Named licence on the same day (and vice-versa)
A user is effectively assigned to an ADU base license and then effectively to a higher Named base license within the same day and vice-versa.
The latest effective Named base license as well as the latest effective ADU base licenses are recorded as consumed for the day.

Over‑Assignment of Named Licenses After License Renewal
Users are actively assigned to the Named licenses. The Named license entitlement reaches its expiration date. A new entitlement is procured for the same Named license type with a lower license count.
Negative effective available count for the Named license is reported.
The licenses that are effective for each user at the time the report is generated, are considered.
The User login overage section includes overage details only for ADU licenses where isEnforced = false. The system does not calculate or display overage details for Named licenses under any circumstances.
