Managing the Local Changeable Objects with Pending Effectivity and Variance Effectivity
Before replication, all existing effectivities on the target are cleared. After replication, only the Pending or Variance effectivities from the source are retained and reflected on the target.
For example, consider PartA, which has iterations A.1, A.2, A.3 and B.1, B.2, B.3. These parts have effectivities such as MSN, Serial, Block, Lot, and Date within the context of PartA.

Target System Before Replication
For example, PartA has iterations A.1, B.2, B.3, and B.4, and it includes effectivities such as MSN, Serial, Block, Lot, and Date. These effectivities are associated with different contexts, as shown in the following table, such as PartA, Local, Replicated, InTransit, and Readiness. The Replicated, InTransit, and Readiness contexts correspond to parts that have the Product Design Package, InTransit, and Readiness locks applied to them, respectively.

Serial Effectivity/Local

After the replication, you can observe the following on the target system:
All affected object or resulting object links associated with each variance or change task revision from the source system are replicated for each available changeable in the target system.
All Pending or Variance effectivities associated with each resulting object or affected object link on the target system before the replication are cleaned up once the replication is complete.
All Pending or Variance effectivities associated with each resulting object or affected object link from the source system are replicated for each available changeable object in the target system.
All change tasks or variances have an appropriate administrative lock indicating that they are being replicated.
All subsequent replications from the source system are applied to the variances or change tasks in the target system.
