Owning Organization
Business objects, such as parts or documents, created within a container context such as Product or Library, are automatically owned by the organization participant associated with the context. However, the site can choose to allow users to specify a different organization participant such as one associated with an external vendor or supplier as the owner of an object. For example, if a part used in a part structure is provided by a sub-contractor, you can select that sub-contractor’s organization participant as the owning organization for the part. Similarly, you can select a vendor or manufacturer organization participant for a vendor or a manufacturer part.

Enable the appropriate preferences to display the owning organization on objects using the Preference Management utility. Preferences are used to control:
Different configurations for the ability to view and manage owning organization for business objects.
Labeling for owning organization on business objects when it is displayed.

If No, the owning organization is hidden for all business objects.
If Yes, the owning organization is exposed for all objects as influenced by Expose Organization for Change Management Objects and Expose Organization Only for Windchill Supplier Management Parts preferences.
When owning organization is exposed for business objects, the attribute label is controlled by a preference.
Change Management
Expose Organization for Change Management Objects
When the Expose Organization preference is set to Yes, this preference controls the exposure of the owning organization for all change management objects.
If Expose Organization for Change Management Objects is set to No, the owning organization is hidden for all change management objects.
If Expose Organization for Change Management Objects is set to Yes, the owning organization is exposed for all change management objects.
Display
Expose Organization Only for Windchill Supplier Management Parts
When the Expose Organization preference is set to Yes, this preference influences the exposure of the owning organization for all business objects.
If Expose Organization Only for Windchill Supplier Management Parts is set to No, the owning organization is displayed for all business objects with Expose Organization for Change Management Objects controlling the display of the change management objects.
If Expose Organization Only for Windchill Supplier Management Parts is set to Yes, the owning organization is exposed and is limited to owning organizations on Windchill Supplier Management parts.
