Server-managed CAD Configuration
Windchill Visualization publishing primarily depends on authoring or source application for conversion to Creo View format. Creo View Adapter worker, configured with CAD or Office application needs to have all necessary configuration used in organization, for example: config.pro or config.sup for CAD, font files for CAD or Office publishing and so on. Windchill provides centralized management of CAD configuration for publishing purpose. Windchill’s Visualization Configuration Administrator under Site/Organization/Product/Libraries utility allows administrators to upload a package of CAD Configuration with all its dependencies.
*
VCS does not allow direct access to worker, hence administrator must manage CAD configuration on Windchill for publishing purpose.
To manage CAD Configuration on Windchill for publishing purpose, perform the following steps:
1. Zip the configuration files like config.pro, config.sup along with all library items like fonts, textures, templates etc that are desired for completeness of publishing in the following format: <shape type>_configuration.zip format. For more information on the shape type refer Creating Package for Creo Parametric. For example, PROE_configuration.zip.
2. Upload the zip files to Visualization Configuration Administration (VCA). The configuration files can be configured for Site, Organization, and Product context types.
*
If CAD configurations are managed at different context levels, then the configuration at the lowest level like Product is used and will not be merged configuration from higher levels. For more information, see Context Inheritance.
3. Windchill utilizes uploaded CAD configurations by sending configuration package as publishing payload. Publishing process selects configuration associated with shape type. For example, for publishing Creo authoring application associated documents PROE_Configuration.zip is used.
4. When CAD worker receives this configuration, it applies the configuration and starts the worker process.
The package for each CAD or authoring application varies based on supported capabilities and association with library items of configuration.
