Indexing File Content
Windchill Index Search can index file content for selected MIME file types at the time the file is added to the system. Windchill method servers stream the file content and certain metadata fields to Windchill Index Search in the background after the information is initially placed into or updated in the database.
Both primary and secondary content (attachments) are indexed.
To enable file content indexing, you must set the indexable property for the associated MIME type. For more information, see Specify MIME Types for Content Indexing.
You can disable file content indexing by MIME type or by file extension. For more information, see Disable Content Indexing of Files.
*
The MIME types should be specified during the initial setup of Windchill bulk indexing or before the indexing operation is performed.
If the MIME types are modified, the data should be re-indexed. For more information, see Bulk Index Tool.
*
Content that is mastered in remote vaults is indexed. Therefore, users can perform full-text searches on content that is mastered remotely. However, users can perform database searches against object attributes.
