The Sourcing Administrator
In Windchill Supplier Management, the Sourcing Administrators are involved in the day-to-day management of supplier data. For example, the Sourcing Administrators are responsible for adding manufacturers and vendors to the supplier list, maintaining documents and contacts for the suppliers, and using rules to set the sourcing status of supplier parts. Typically, Component and Procurement Engineers act as Sourcing Administrators. Only the Sourcing and Organization Administrators can create and edit information on the Suppliers tab.
Initially, the Organization Administrator assigns the Sourcing Administrators for your organization.
Sourcing Administrators play a key role in the sourcing processes associated with the product development system. Some of the key responsibilities include:
• Managing a list of suppliers with whom your organization works
• Capturing supplier information such as documents and contact information
• Defining the sourcing contexts in which the AML/AVL is specified for parts that you buy
• Establishing the sourcing rules for categories of supplier parts in specific sourcing contexts
• Providing oversight for the management of supplier parts in libraries
