Use Case 1: Collecting Raw Materials Based on Manufacturing History
You can use the
Collect raw material or semi-finished objects action to collect raw materials based on the manufacturing history. In MPMLink, the collector collects only the objects. It does not collect link-related entities. Also, the system skips holder objects such as Made From Set, Co-produce etc.
Consider that the following structure is present in the BOM Transformer:
Structure Details:
• The raw material link between Made From Set 1 and Raw Material 1 has Effectivity 1 assigned to it.
• Effectivity 1 is also assigned to Raw Material 1.
Replace Raw Material 1 with Raw Material 2. The link remains the same.
• The raw material link between Made From Set 1 and Raw Material 2 has Effectivity 2 assigned to it.
• Effectivity 2 is also assigned to Raw Material 2.
Scenario 1: Configuration Specification Criteria is Effectivity 1
When you initiate the
Collect raw material or semi-finished objects action in the collector, the system first goes through the manufacturing history of the raw material. Then the system detects the appropriate raw material based on the configuration specification criteria. As
Raw Material 1 has
Effectivity 1 assigned to it,
Raw Material 1 is collected.
Scenario 2: Configuration Specification Criteria is Effectivity 2
Consideration: The made from set must be resolved based on the applied configuration specification including effectivity.
When you initiate the
Collect raw material or semi-finished objects action in the collector, the system first goes through the manufacturing history of the raw material. Then the system detects the appropriate raw material based on the configuration specification criteria. As
Raw Material 2 has
Effectivity 2 assigned to it,
Raw Material 2 is collected.
| You can also associate effectivity to the alternate made from link between Finished Part and Made From Set 1. The above use cases will provide the same results if you replace the raw material links with the alternate made from links and assign Effectivity 1 and Effectivity 2, accordingly. |
