Localizing Operations
Localizing operations is a way to assign operations to specific geographical location within a plant. For example, to a work station. Conceptually it looks something like this:
Plant East
• Work Station 001 (Cleaning Building)
◦ Work Center 001 (Laundry Machine)
◦ Work Center 002 (Hand Cleaner)
• Work Station 002 (Painting Building)
◦ Work Center 003 (Sprayer)
◦ Work Center 004 (Hand Brush)
Operation_CleanPart would be localized to Work Station 001, meaning that the operation would be confined to the Cleaning Building (and not the Painting Building), and then depending on the size or fragility of the part, “Allocated” to either Work Center 001 or Work Center 002.
To localize an operation to a resource use the following procedure:
1. Open the Manufacturing Resource Browser.
2. Display the active Process Plan in the tree picker.
3. Drag the operations to be localized to the desired resource in the Manufacturing Resource Browser.
