Updating Equivalent Links Silently
Equivalent links can be updated silently. Based on the value that you set in the com.ptc.windchill.associativity.doSilentUpdateEquivalent property, the system determines whether to update the equivalent links silently or by resolving the discrepancies interactively using the standard reconciliation framework.
This property is present in the associativity.properties.xconf file located at WT_HOME/codebase/com/ptc/core/foundation/associativity. The default value of this property is false.
The system resolves the discrepancies with user interaction and updates the equivalent links only if the com.ptc.windchill.associativity.doSilentUpdateEquivalent property is set to false. When set to false, the system opens the Update to Current Equivalent Objects dialog box. You can then choose the discrepancies that you want to resolve. Once this process is over, the system updates the equivalent links.
For more information on resolving the discrepancies interactively using the standard reconciliation framework and updating the equivalent links, see the following topics:
If the com.ptc.windchill.associativity.doSilentUpdateEquivalent property is set to true, the system automatically resolves the following types of discrepancies and updates the equivalent links silently :
• Usage Attributes
• Usage and Occurrence Expressions
• Change in positions
• Part Attributes
• Documents
Key Points
• If you want to resolve the discrepancies automatically when the com.ptc.windchill.associativity.doSilentUpdateEquivalent property is set to true, you must select the Carry over from upstream check box in the Update Equivalence dialog box. If the check box is not selected, no changes are carried over to the downstream.
• In case of silent update of equivalent links, the system updates the changes until the first level equivalent node from the selected node on which the action is invoked.
