Synchronization Packages
A synchronization package can be used to do the following:
• Synchronize information about previously exported data in a target PLM system with the source PLM system. A synchronization package ensures that if a previously exported file is renamed at the source PLM system, then the file name is updated in the target PLM system.
• Object ownership transfer of an object from the original owner to a new owner. A complete package is sent the prospective new owner. The prospective new owner imports this package in their PLM system. The new owner sends a master synchronization package to the original owner and other PLM systems that they exchange data with containing the data for this object. In turn, the original owner imports the master synchronization package in their PLM system and sends the master synchronization package to other PLM systems that they exchange data with that contains the data for this object. Usage Scenarios
A synchronization package can be used in the following scenarios:
• As an example of a change is the rename of a previously exported file.
• When the object life cycle status is updated in the source PLM system. The life cycle state of the object is updated based on the import mapping.
• When the object has been moved in the source PLM system.
|
A synchronization package does not automatically move the objects in the target PLM system. Instead, the user is notified of the new location of objects in the package details report.
|
• When the object ownership is transferred to a new owner.
