Creating New Organizations
In order for projects, programs, products, and libraries to be created, an organization context must exist. Site administrators can create organization contexts from the Organizations table. Only site administrators can create organization contexts.
To create a new organization context, click the new organization icon at the top of the Organizations table. The New Organization window opens.
The following table describes the fields on the New Organization window. When you are finished entering the information, click OK.
Field
Description
Organization Name
Specifies the name of the organization. The maximum number of characters you can enter is 200. This field is required. The name you enter must be unique within the scope of the directory server you specify. The organization name cannot include the following characters:
#
/
>
\
<
You can enter the organization name that you want to create or you can enter a partial name and click Search to search for and select an organization name that has been defined in the directory server.
The organization name that you enter or select determines which users, if any, automatically become members of the organization. If the organization name specified is the same as the value of the organization attribute on a user's directory server entry, then the user automatically becomes a member of that organization context.
The default user organization attribute is "o". If your directory server does not utilize the default "o" attribute, then another attribute can be mapped to serve the same purpose or a property can be set to assign the organization name for users in the directory server. For more information, see Creating and Managing Organizations.

Associating a new organization context with an existing organization participant may change the domain association of the organization participant. For more information, see Organization Domain Algorithm.
