Associating a Document with a Standard Control Characteristic
To associate a document with a standard control characteristic:
1. Right click on the standard control characteristic and select View Information. The information page of the standard control characteristic opens.
2. Click the Related tab.
3. Browse to the Described By Documents or References Documentssection according to your business requirements.
You can view, add, change, or remove documents associated with a standard control characteristic. The following types of document association tables are displayed:
Described By Documents— Displays the version-specific documents for the selected part.
References Documents— Displays the related documents that contain essential information for the selected part.
Standard Procedures— Displays the related documents that contain essential information for the standard procedure.
Processing Resources— Displays the related documents that contain essential information for the processing resources.
Available Actions
The following table explains the actions available for Described By Documents and References Documents sections under Related tab:
Action
Description
Add New Document
Opens the New Document window where you can create and associate a new document with the selected part.
Add existing Documents
Allows you to associate an existing document with the selected part.
Remove Selected
Removes the selected associated document.
Copy Selected Object
Places the selected document on the clipboard, so you can associate that document for another part.
Paste
Places a document from the clipboard in the selected location.
You can search a document using the search bar. Also, you can select the table view by clicking the drop down list next to Described By Documents and Reference Documents.
