Converting a Deprecated Object to a Share
You can check out a PDM object to multiple projects. When one project sends the object back to PDM, the remaining PDM checkout objects become deprecated.
Use the Project Status table to verify whether an object is deprecated. The Status column automatically updates to display the Deprecated status for remaining PDM checkout objects.
To reflect the latest version of the object available in PDM, you can convert a deprecated object to a
shared object.
1. To convert one or more individual objects, perform one of the following actions:
◦ Select Convert to Share from the right-click actions menu of a deprecated object in the Project Status table or the Folder Contents table.
◦ Select one or more deprecated objects in the Folder Contents table and then select > .
2. The following objects are collected in the Convert to Share window:

a. To include objects that are excluded by default, select the checkboxes next to the objects and click the restore icon
on the table toolbar.
b. To exclude objects from being converted to a share, select the checkboxes next to the objects and click the exclude icon
on the table toolbar.
4. Click OK.
A message appears stating that the objects have been successfully converted and shared back to the project.
Converted objects reflect the following changes:
• Their status is changed to Abandoned. Abandoned objects are no longer editable in the project.
• The latest PDM version of the object is shared to the project:
◦ The latest iteration of the shared version is added to the project baseline (if eligible).
◦ Read access is granted to project team members.
◦ Links between the project-specific version and other objects are copied to the shared objects. If you are working with CAD documents, dynamic documents, and parts that have a build rule and a build history, then the build rule is deleted. The build history is kept between the abandoned version and the CAD documents or dynamic documents. In there is a describe link, the link is copied to the shared object.
