Opening Partial Set of Objects from Workspace
When a workspace has a partial set of a CAD assembly in the workspace, you can use the CAD tool’s native actions to retrieve that partial set in session. The process flow is different for each CAD tool.
Opening a partial set of objects in Creo Parametric
You can use Creo’s Open Subset action to define a temporary representation to retrieve only the models whose CAD Documents are in the workspace. Ensure that the config.pro option, dm_search_primary_server is set to no.
1. In Creo, click File > Open and select the assembly in the File Open window.
2. Click Open Subset. Under Retrieval Customization dialog box, select the assembly components to retrieve.
*
You can select components from the graphics window and then use the right mouse button menu to mark them for retrieval.

Opening a Partial Set of Objects in NX
While opening a partial set of objects in NX, a few warning messages appear. Click OK to continue opening the objects.
To open a partial set of objects from the Windchill workspace, click Open in NX in the Actions column. You can also click Actions > Open In > Open in NX on the object information page.
To open a partial set of objects in NX when connected to Windchill Workgroup Manager client, perform the following steps:
a. In NX, click File > Open from Windchill.
The Open from Windchill window opens.
b. In the Open from Windchill window, you can access the Windchill workspace to select the objects.

Opening a Partial Set of Objects in CATIA V5
While opening a partial set of objects in CATIA V5, a warning message appears for missing components. Click OK to continue opening the objects.
To open a partial set of objects from the Windchill workspace, click Open in CATIA V5 in the Actions column. You can also click Actions > Open In > Open in CATIA V5 on the object information page.

When you open a partial set of a CAD assembly in NX or CATIA V5, you can add components to the assembly or replace the existing ones.
After opening a partial set of a CAD assembly in NX or CATIA V5, you can see the unloaded components in the model tree of the CAD tool. The unloaded components are not a part of the partial set of assembly, but they are a part of the main assembly.
You cannot activate the unloaded components in the model tree, but you can remove them.
If you remove the unloaded components from the model tree and save the partial set to Windchill, the unloaded components are also removed from the main assembly in Windchill.
