Replace Component from Windchill (CATIA V5)
The Replace Component from Windchill action is the equivalent of a native CATIA V5 replacement of a part, subassembly, or CGR in a CATIA V5 product open in the active session. The replacement components come from the active Windchill workspace or commonspace. This action is available by clicking the 
icon on the CATIA V5 toolbar, or by selecting the action from the Windchill menu in CATIA V5.

For example, if you select a replacement component from the commonspace, but its non-latest version already exists in the workspace, then the non-latest version from the workspace is considered for the replacement.
To replace a component with its latest version, update the latest version of the component in the workspace.
 | • You cannot replace the top node in a CATIA V5 product. • Starting from Windchill Workgroup Manager 13.0.0.0, you can select and replace multiple components simultaneously. • You cannot replace a component with itself (referred to as self-replacement). An error message is displayed when the component selected is same as the replacement component. |
