Extended Data
Extended data is a versioned, workable object in Windchill that is used to store data that needs to be published to an ERP system.
There are two kinds of extended data that are managed by the system: enterprise data and plant data , also known as plant information. Enterprise data consists of attributes and related objects that are shared across all revisions and iterations of a particular part master. Plant data consists of attributes and related objects that are shared across all revisions and iterations of a particular view of a part.
The extended data information page is a collection point for information related to the extended data. You access this page by clicking the object’s information icon.
From the Information page, you can perform actions on extended data, as well as view the object attributes and any related information.
For an overview of Information page functionality, see About Information Pages and Customizing Information Page Tabs.
Actions
Information pages contain a list of applicable actions in an Actions menu located in the upper left corner of the page. See Common Actions for a list of actions available for many objects in Windchill. The availability of these actions depends on the status of the extended data, as well as your access to it. For more information about status indicators, see Object Status.

Customizing the Version Attribute for Extended Data
By default there is a data utility configured for the Version attribute in both enterprise data and plant data. However, if you create a new layout for this data, adding your own Version attributes, then you must assign a data utility ID to ensure that the proper values appear in the Manufacturing Associative Product Structure Browser. If you do not, then your customized Version attribute is shown as un-assignable.
To provide the proper data utility ID:
1. In your customized layout, select the Version attribute and click View Group Attribute Properties.
2. In the Data Utility Id field, enter enterprisedataVersionDU.
Moving Extended Data Along With Parts
The following considerations apply when moving extended data objects along with parts:
If a part and its associated extended data objects are at the same location, and you move the part to a new location, its associated extended data objects also move to the new location.
If a part and its associated extended data objects are at different locations, and you move the part to a new location, its associated extended data objects do not move to the new location.
