Working with Read Only Areas (CADDS 5)
Read only areas are folders/directories on the shared network drives that contain data that the user cannot modify (user has read only access). This arrangement may be useful, for example, in the event that several users are working on a large assembly. Each user can have their own data in an editable workspace, while having read only access to the data of other team members. The read only area allows users to see their own data in the context of the overall assembly. Each user can have his or her own data in an editable workspace, while having read only access to the data of other team members. The read only area allows each user to see his or her own data in the context of the overall assembly.
In order to view the files available in read only areas, the path to those folders/directories must be included in the users CVPath. This is done by using the > function, available from the Local Data Manager. The path added remains valid for the active session.
