Assigning Usage Expressions
You can assign expressions to usage links of configurable modules. The usage links include manufacturing raw material links, secondary co-produce links, and co-produce usage links. Consider this information when assigning expressions:
An option set must be assigned to the part or its context, or to the root part or its context. The context is a product or library to which this part belongs.
The selected part is a child of a configurable module.
You can assign basic expressions or advanced expressions, if supported for your site and product.
You cannot assign usage expressions on primary co-produce links, alternate made from links, and Made From parts that are under finished parts.
The Configurable Module Support preference must be set to Yes.
*
The made from set and co-produce objects that were created in Windchill 13.0.0.0 or earlier are not configurable modules OOTB. You need to edit their attributes to set them as configurable modules.
To assign expressions to usage links:
1. In BOM Transformer, select a configurable module.
2. In the Made From or Co-produce Structure table, right-click the part for the links on which you want to assign usage expression, and select Assign Expression.
The Assign Basic Expression window opens. Use this window to assign basic expressions. For information on defining basic expressions, see Defining Basic Expressions.
To assign advanced expressions, use the Assign Advanced Expression window. For information on defining advanced expressions, see Defining Advanced Expressions.
3. When finished, click OK.
*
To view the values assigned to the usage expressions, configure the Made From or Co-produce Structure table to display the Assigned Usage Expressions column. You can also view the values in the Process Plan Browser by configuring the tree structure and Part Allocation tab to display the Assigned BOM Usage Expressions column.
