Adding Users to Groups
Windchill Integration for MES creates a team template named ESI Team during the installation process. This template is associated to the Windchill Integration for MES workflow roles. Also, during installation, two ESI groups, ESI Administrators and ESI Authors are created. Initially, these two groups have the Administrators group specified as the participant. You can modify any of these defaults by allowing new or existing users access to these groups.
The following describes how to add users to the ESI groups and map the groups to the ESI Team template workflow roles in Windchill PDMLink.
Adding Users in Windchill PDMLink
The following is an overview of how to add users to ESI groups. The user interfaces used in the following steps are accessed through the Site > Utilities.
1. Verify that the following Windchill Integration for MES groups and their values have been created in Windchill PDMLink:
Group Name
Group Description
Group Domain
ESI Administrators
Change Admin III role participant
[/]/Site/User/Unaffiliated
ESI Authors
Engineer role participant
[/]/Site/User/Unaffiliated
2. If needed, create new users to add to the ESI groups. Set appropriate values for attributes such as username, full name, password, and domain.
3. Add the new users you created in the previous step or existing users to the ESI groups.
4. If users need to access the ESI transaction pages, add those users into both the ESI Administrators group and the Administrators group.
5. If required, create ESI roles in a specific product team.
6. Add users or ESI groups to ESI roles or any other role in the product team.
7. Verify that the ESI groups are part of the CN team.
8. If required, add other users or groups to the CN team.
9. Verify that the following access control lists (ACLs) have been set for the listed groups:
