Creating a Baseline
Depending on how you initiate the New Baseline action, you can create an empty baseline or pre-select the objects you want to include.

If your site has security labels enabled, you might see the Set Security Labels step. For more information about setting security labels, see Setting Security Labels while Creating Objects.
1. To create a new baseline, use one of the following methods:
Select Actions > New > New Baseline from the Details page of a Product , Library , Program , or Project context.
Select Actions > Add to > Add to Baseline from the information page of a part, document, dynamic document, or CAD document.
From the Folder Contents table, perform one of the following actions:
Select Actions > New > New Baseline.
Select the checkboxes next to the objects you want to add to the baseline. Select Add to Baseline from the right-click actions menu or select Actions > Add to > Add to Baseline.
2. If you are using the Add to Baseline action, click New Baseline.
3. From the New Baseline window, complete the following fields:

Description
Name
Provide a unique name for the baseline.
Description
Enter a brief description of the baseline.
Protected
Select one of the following options:
Yes
Objects that have been added to this baseline cannot be deleted from the system without first deleting the baseline or removing the object from the baseline.
No
This sets the baseline mode to Unprotected and allows objects in the baseline to be deleted at any time. A warning message appears when a user attempts to delete an object that has been added to an unprotected baseline.
Lock
Select one of the following options:
Yes
Only the baseline creator or an administrator can make changes to the baseline.
No
Any user with edit permissions can make changes to the baseline.
Location
Autoselect Folder—Accept the folder location of the baseline according to the object initialization rules for the context.
Select Folder—Navigate to a specific folder location for the baseline. Click the folder location icon to browse to a new folder.
Depending on the settings placed by your administrators, you may also see the following attribute options:
Life Cycle Template—Select the life cycle template you want to use for this baseline.
Team Template—Select the life cycle team template you want to use for this baseline.

If your site has defined additional attributes for an object, fields and default values for those attributes appear under the Business field.
4. Click Finish.
5. If you are creating the baseline using the Add to Baseline action, you can use the Baseline Objects table to modify the objects included in the baseline.
If you are creating the baseline using the New Baseline action, navigate to the baseline information page to access the Baseline Objects table.

After creating the baseline, you can use the Edit Access Control action to set or change access for other users.
