In-Context Design
Windchill Workgroup Manager users can partially open a simplified version of a product configuration using PTC provided and CAD specific capabilities. In context design enables you to control the amount of data added to workspace and retrieved in the CAD tool. This allows you to design connecting or closely located components located at the top-level Product context. For example, when working with a very large assembly, you may find it useful to identify a subset that contains the component in a small section of the assembly. This helps simplify the working environment and reduce the number of files that you need to download, while still including critical geometry.
Windchill Workgroup Manager offers two categories of tools:
Design Context CAD Documents: These are precise, persisted set of rules used to calculate a subset of objects based on a CAD Assembly or a Part’s configuration context. For more information see (Design-in-Context)
Partial Add to Workspace: This method enables you to partially populate a workspace with the subset you want to retrieve in CAD, that is generally selected from the CAD Document or Part Structure. The subset is then opened using your native CAD tool’s partial retrieval capabilities.
For more information see (Using CAD System’s In Context Tools).
