Setting up Automatic Clearing of Cache
Configure the Windchill Workgroup Manager preference cache.size in the wgmclient.ini file to specify the size limit for the internal cache of a machine. Specify the size limit in integer value in megabytes (MB). By default, the value for the preference is set to zero (0), implying that the size of cache is unlimited.
When the preference is set to a certain value, Windchill automatically clears the cache when the cache size nears approximately ninety percent of the set cache limit.
*
The cache size is displayed in the Cache tab. This tab is accessible from Tools > Server Management > Cache.
During the automatic clean-up, the new and locally modified files that belong to existing workspaces are not cleared from cache. Also, automatic cache clean up clears only cache for uploaded objects.
Windchill performs an automatic cache cleanup on the following:
All contents of objects that belong to deleted workspaces and which are not used by any other workspaces.
Invalidated contents, both new and modified, and the ws.cache folder of the orphaned workspaces.
Objects within active and inactive workspaces on the primary server.
Using Explicit Cache Purge
Some unreferenced local content files do not get automatically deleted. A manual clearing of cache is required to remove these files from workspace cache. Select the Clear option from Tools > Server Management > Cache to manually clear the cache.
*
While saving documents multiple times, a new copy of the file is created each time. This leads to the previous saved file being unreferenced. Such files are termed as unreferenced local content files.
