Setting Up a Customized State-based Versioning Scheme
The steps for setting up list-based or state-based versioning schemes are identical.
Setting up a customized state-based versioning scheme consists of the following:
• Creating and Loading the XML Versioning File
• Making the Newly Added Versioning Schemes Available in the Life Cycle Administrator
• Creating a Life Cycle Template Which Uses the New Version Series
• Setting Up the Object Initialization Rules
• Using a State-based Versioning Scheme in a Life Cycle

This procedure should be performed immediately after installation and before any objects are created in the Windchill system. If objects have already been created using a different versioning scheme, then the behavior when these objects are revised will be unpredictable.
