Publishing External Simplified Representations as Positioning Assemblies
Windchill PDMLink manages External Simplified Representations as simple assemblies of sub-category Design Context. A Windchill Design Context represents a subset of assembly components as a separate Creo Parametric assembly, analogous to an External Simplified Representation. WVS publishes the resulting Windchill -created Design Context CAD Assemblies as normal Creo Parametric assemblies.
Publishing of CAD-authored External Simplified Representation CAD assemblies is no different. External Simplified Representation EPMDocuments are also identified in Windchill as a Design Context sub-category. However, publishing of an External Simplified Representation can only currently be done in Component/Full Mode, which rules out publishing this as a Positioning or Extended Positioning Assembly. Minimum Memory mode and Positioning Assembly publishing does not publish External Simplified Representations properly, because the rules for External Simplified Representations are stored within the External Simplified Representation sub-assembly, and not in the parent assembly.
Therefore, publish External Simplified Representations as normal, “full geometry” assemblies.
