Configure the File System to Support External Storage of Windchill Content
Windchill leverages an external file system for storing content files. These files range from static graphics and images to office documents and CAD data.
The file system needs to be physically accessible with both read and write permission to the application user account on each application server host. The storage mounts on each host should at least utilize the same path on each host.
For direct attached storage in a cluster each application node in the cluster must either be physically attached to the same volume or the volume must be shared to the application hosts over CIFS or NFS.
Sizing for the storage is dictated by the volume of data and the amount of changes that are made to the content.
The primary Windchill vault can be configured to leverage multiple storage volumes or one large volume.
More specific details on external vault configurations can be found in the
Windchill Vaulting and Replication Technical Brief.
