To change the name in the user's directory entry, you must have write permission to the directory server containing the user entry.

If the user attempts to log in with the new username before the LDAP entry and Windchill synchronize, a new account is created and is not associated with the user’s old name. To fix this, disable the new account and connect the new username with the old account using the following steps:
1. Search for the user with the user’s old name using the Search Disconnected Participants action in the Participant Administration window. For more information, see Search
disconnected participants.
2. After adding the old user to the Participant Administration table, select the Reconnect Disconnected Participant action from the right-click action menu for the user object.
3. Search for the user with the user’s new name in the Reconnect Disconnected Participant window and click OK. For more information, see Reconnect
disconnected participants.
The old user account will be connected with the new LDAP entry automatically.
