Preview Import for a Received Delivery
After uploading all expected delivery files for a received delivery, you may want to preview information before importing. By previewing the received delivery, you can identify where certain errors or conflicts may arise during the import process and proactively fix the issues. The Preview Received Delivery Import window displays basic received delivery attributes, source system information, version information mapping configuration, and any mapping conflicts that exist for the current received delivery. You can use this window to change mapping decisions, such as the mappings defined for the source system and those for the current received delivery.

Before importing a received delivery, verify that the version information mapping is correctly defined. The message displayed in the Context Related Information section in the Preview Received Delivery Import dialog box indicates the version mapping configured in the target system. In case of implicit mapping, the message is “Displays potential issues for the current received delivery influenced by your intended import selections. Issues identified in this section can be addressed by changing your selections when completing the Import action, by updating your mapping definitions, or by creating the necessary information in Windchill.”
However, when the target system uses the version information from the source system without implicit mapping, the message is “Displays potential issues identified for the current delivery due to the selected context mapping or the retained version labels from the source system. You can address these issues by changing your selections during the import, updating your mapping definitions, or creating the necessary information in Windchill.”
1. Select Preview Received Delivery Import from one of the following locations:
The right-click or table-level actions menu for a received delivery on the Received Delivery Management table.
The Actions menu on a received delivery information page.
2. In the Preview Received Delivery Import window, select one of the following tabs from the Context Related Information section. These tabs display potential conflicts that may arise if the option is selected during the import process. The Context Related Information section also indicates if you may not have the required authorization on a certain object type in the target context. Each tab provides the following information:

Current Context
Uses the current context, instead of the context supplied by the source system, as the target context for all imported objects. No conflicts related to the mapped context are listed.
The current context is used to translate all other attributes that can be mapped. If there is no mapping specified for each of these attributes, Windchill searches for the same attribute on the current system. If a match is not found and no mapping is specified, a conflict is listed. For more information, see Defining Received Delivery Mapping.
This tab is selected by default if you are importing a PTC Windchill formatted package.
Mapped Context
Uses the context supplied by the source system. If there is no defined context mapping, Windchill searches for the same context on the current system. If there is no matching context, a conflict is listed.
If a context is identified, the selected context is used to translate all other attributes that can be mapped. If there is no mapping specified for each of these attributes, Windchill searches for the same attribute on the current system. If a match is not found and no mapping is specified, a conflict is listed. For more information, see Defining Received Delivery Mapping.
This tab is selected by default if you are importing a PTC Windchill formatted package that contains replication data.
3. Click the refresh icon when switching between tabs or after defining the mapping.
4. Evaluate the conflicts listed in the text box within the tab. Each conflict appears with the following information:

Conflict Type
The reason for the conflict. For example, if you do not have the appropriate permissions for the mapped folder, the conflict appears as FOLDER_NOT_AUTHORIZED.
Conflict Description
Additional details about the conflict. For example, if a folder is not available in the current or mapped context, the folder and context names are listed.
Resolution
The available stored resolution, if any.
Source Value
The attribute from the source system. For example, the context on the source system from which the object originated.
Mapped Value
The mapped attribute on the target system.

A log file containing the conflicts also appears in the Attachments table on the Attachments tab of the received delivery information page.

If security labels are enabled on the source system, but not on the target system, security label mapping conflicts are displayed. However, security labels applied to objects in the delivery ZIP files are ignored when the received delivery is imported to the target system if security labels are not enabled. For more information, see Security Label Mapping.
5. Evaluate each conflict listed for the best means to address the issue. In some cases, it is best to resolve the problem by creating objects that will resolve the conflict. For example, you may need to create a new organization when the source system’s organization is not represented in your system. In some cases, it is best to resolve the problem by updating your attribute mappings. Fix the mappings using the define mapping action . For the Current Context tab, conflicts can be resolved using mapping for all attributes except the context. For more information, see Defining Received Delivery Mapping.
6. After updating your mappings, click the refresh icon again to update all fields and search for additional conflicts.
7. Review the Additional Information section to see detailed information about the source Windchill system, including Windchill version and installed optional products. The information contained in this section is not impacted by the Import Into selection when importing the received delivery. If you are working with an incremental delivery, information about objects that were previously delivered, but are no longer included is displayed in this section. The following list shows examples of the reasons objects have been excluded from an incremental delivery:
Objects that have moved out of the product or library in the source system or are otherwise no longer collected as part of the package contents
Objects that have been deleted from the source system and will be deleted in your system upon import
Objects that are not supported for import into your system due to your Windchill version or optional product availability
8. When no additional conflicts appear in the Context Related Information section and you have reviewed the details in the Additional Information section, click OK.
Using the Preview Received Delivery Import action allows you to readily identify and resolve many conflicts related to attributes that can be mapped. After completing the action, you can progress to the import step in the process.
