Updating Usage Attributes in BOM Transformer
Use the Update to Current Upstream Equivalent Object action, available in the downstream view, to update the usage attribute information from an upstream view to its corresponding downstream view.
The action works only when the following property is added to or already exists in the mpmlink_properties.xconf file:<AddToProperty name="com.ptc.windchill.mpml.copyOver.mapsb.create.wt.part.WTPartUsageLink" value="WCTYPE|wt.part.WTPartUsageLink~MBA|<specify attribute internal name>"/>
You can assign multiple values to the property using a comma separator. Update the above property with the attribute that you want to update from the upstream view to the downstream view. For example, use the following property to copy the Find Number and Line Number attributes:<AddToProperty name="com.ptc.windchill.mpml.copyOver.mapsb.create.wt.part.WTPartUsageLink" value="WCTYPE|wt.part.WTPartUsageLink~MBA|findNumber, value="WCTYPE|wt.part.WTPartUsageLink~MBA|LineNumber "/>
For custom attributes, for example, Link_STR, use the following property:<AddToProperty name="com.ptc.windchill.mpml.copyOver.mapsb.create.wt.part.WTPartUsageLink" value="WCTYPE|wt.part.WTPartUsageLink~IBA|Link_STR "/>
Only an administrator can add or modify the above properties.
Perform the following steps to update the usage attributes of a part in the downstream tree structure:
1. In the downstream view, right-click the part for which you want to update the usage information and select Update to Current Upstream Equivalent Object. The Update Equivalence dialog box appears.
2. Select the Carry over from upstream check box to copy the attributes from the upstream tree structure to the downstream tree structure.
3. Click OK. The usage information is updated in the downstream view for the selected part.
Alternatively, click the Update Quantity and Usage Attributes icon in the middle toolbar to update the quantity and usage attributes.

It is not possible to define role permissions for organization-level objects. To use the Update to Current Upstream Equivalent Object action in MPMLink, you must have Modify Content Permission in the /user Administrative Domain of the organization. You must either be a user or a group and not a role. For more information, see the article CS379199.
