Updating Object Associations
Perform the following steps to update the associations of multiple objects simultaneously:
1. In the Folder Contents table, Search Results table, or object information page, select the object for which you want to update the associations.
2. From the Actions menu or right-click actions menu, select Mass Update Manufacturing Objects.
The Mass Update Manufacturing Objects Assistant window opens, showing the selected object on the Select Target Objects tab.
3. To collect the objects associated with the selected object, click
.
The Return Collected Objects dialog box opens, showing the selected object.
4. In the Return Collected Objects dialog box, select the object and click the appropriate toolbar action to collect the required associations.
To collect a semi-finished or finished part made from the selected part, click
.
The associated objects are displayed.
| • You can either collect usages of a selected part or a part made from the selected part. |
5. Click OK.
The Target Objects table on the Select Target Objects tab displays the associations. Additional objects that you collect are appended to the table.
6. Click Next.
7. On the
Select Replacement tab, click
to select the type and the objects that should replace the selected associations, and then click
OK.
8. Optionally, specify the number of the change task against which you want to record the updates.
The updated objects will be added as resulting objects in the specified change task.
You can also create a new change notice by clicking
New change notice. If the newly created change notice has only one task associated with it, the number of the change task is auto populated in the
Change task field once the action is completed. If the newly created change notice has multiple change tasks associated with it, randomly anyone change task number is auto populated in the
Change task field. You can also change the already populated change task number.

If the
Track “Made From” History Through Change Notice preference is set to Yes, you must specify a change task number. This action triggers the creation of a manufacturing history object, which is displayed in the
Resulting Objects table of the specified change task. The change task should be open, and you should have edit access on it. For more information, see
Tracking Usage History of Made From Parts.

Click Preview to verify the associations that will be updated and check for any error messages. Click End Preview to go back to the Select Replacement tab.
9. Click Finish.
You can view the number of successfully replaced objects and the number of errors encountered.
10. Click Finish again to close the Mass Update Manufacturing Objects Assistant window.
The associations are updated. All parent objects are iterated. A semi-finished or finished part is not iterated when the part it is made from, is replaced with another part.
