Allocating a Part Under the Standard Operation
The allocation of parts to a standard operation is a key component of manufacturing process management. By allocating parts to a standard operation you define what parts are to be used, when, and how, during the manufacturing of your product.
You can allocate a part under a standard operation from the following points on a process plan browser:
Browser or Related tab of Process Plan
Tree Picker
3D Picker
A standard operation is not checked out when a part is successfully allocated. However, its parent operation is checked out.
To allocate a part from the Related tab:
In the Related tab,
1. Under Parts, click +. The Add Related Part window opens
2. Enter the name of the part. The part is displayed under the Search Results section.
3. Select the check box next to the part and click OK.
The newly allocated part appears under the Parts section of the Related tab.
To allocate a part using Tree Picker:
In the Structure tab,
1. Under Tree Picker, select Open Related Part.
2. Select the parts to allocate.
3. Right click and select Copy.
4. Right click the operation under which you want to allocate the part and click Paste.
The allocated parts appear under the operation. Alternatively, to allocate a part, you can drag and drop the selected parts under the operation.
To allocate a part using the 3D Picker:
In the Structure tab,
1. Under Tree Picker, select Open Related Part.
2. From the 3D Picker window, select the parts to allocate.
3. Click Allocate to Operation in the 3D Picker window.
4. Select the operation under which you want to allocate the parts.
5. Click Allocate in the 3D Picker window.
The allocated parts appear under the operation.

You cannot allocate a Made From part to a standard operation using the 3D Picker because the geometry of this part is not visible on the Visualization tab.
