Behavior of iPart Factories During PDM Actions (Autodesk Inventor)
Depending on whether an action results in creating a new iteration, Autodesk Inventor iPart members are treated by Windchill as either an inseparable object (that is, the action applies to the iPart and all its members as though they were a single entity), or as a separable object (that is, iPart members can be acted on independent of each other).
iPart Factories are treated as an inseparable Family of objects for these PDM actions:
• Save to Workspace or Save
• Check In
• Upload
• Check Out
• Undo Check Out
• Update
• Save As
If the action does not cause changes to the Autodesk Inventor file, then Windchill allows you to act on a subset of family members. Such actions include:
• Add to Workspace or Add
• Remove from Workspace
• Rename
• Promote
• Set State
• Edit Properties (only non-file based attributes may be edited)
• Revise
