Working with Software Part Information Pages
Information about the software part is described on the information pages described in this section. The sections also describe attributes and tables on the various tabs of the information page specific to the document object.
The software part information page is a collection point for information related to a software part object. The information page of a software part object is accessed by clicking Information .
From the information page, you can perform actions on a software part, as well as view the object attributes and any related information.
Accessing and Managing Migrated Data
Refer to Accessing and Managing Migrated Data for information on how to access and manage migrated Windchill data from Windchill 9.x to Windchill 10.x.
Actions
Information pages contain a list of applicable actions in a menu just below the object identification line. See Common Actions for a list of common actions in Windchill. The availability of actions depends on the status of the software build object and your access to it.
Tabs
The tabs listed in the following table are on the software part information page. For more information about the individual tabs for a software part, see Part Information Page.
You can customize the tabs on each object information page to include the information most useful to you. For more information, see Customizing Information Page Tabs.

Tab
Description
Structure
The Structure tab displays the software part structure in a two or three-pane display. Add or remove software parts or modify existing software parts within the structure. You can also view visualization and occurrences information.
See The Part Structure Tab for a description of the actions and the structure panes on the Structure tab.
Details
The Details tab lists the part attributes and contains a visualization image of the software part.
See Object Attributes for a list of common attributes in Windchill. Also, see Document Information Page for a list of attributes specific to this tab.
Content
Software parts do not contain primary source content or attachment content. If the Content tab displays the primary content or attachments tables, neither contains content for a software part.
Where Used
The Where Used tab contains a table displaying where the software part is used from the immediate parent assembly up to the highest level assembly.
*
Use this information to see the use of part designs and the impact of design changes on product end items.
Changes
The Changes tab contains the Associated Changes table showing change related objects that are related to the software part such as change requests and change notices.
*
Use this information to see part changes that have occurred in the past and changes that are currently in process.
Related Objects
The Related Objects tab contains tables showing product definition data describing or related to the software part. You can view or edit the information related to the software part using the action menus at the top of these tables.
Migrated IBM Rational ClearCase content from a Windchill 9.x object becomes listed as a related software document to the migrated Windchill object in Windchill 10.2.
History
The History tab contains a dynamic time line displaying events that have occurred in the development of the software part such as new versions and changes in lifecycle state. Use your mouse to move the time scale to the left and right, revealing additional events. Click an event name to see more information.
Collaboration
The Collaboration tab contains information tables displaying action items, discussion threads, and subscriptions related to the software part. Use the actions at the top of each table to view and add collaboration information.
Traceability
The related upstream and downstream object tables in the Traceability tab show how software parts are related to the requirements they address and specifications that drive their development. The Traceability tab is displayed when:
Windchill Requirements Management is installed
The preference Show Traceability Tab is set to Yes. When set to No, the default, this tab is hidden.
