Auto Associate Upon Package Import
This section outlines the basic concepts of using Creo Packages to enable auto association for the following use cases:
At the time of check in when importing objects into Windchill
At the time of importing the package into the target PLM system
In addition to turning on the auto associate behavior in general upon import, you can control which specific object to auto associate. Applicable objects are the following:
Attribute name (IBAname)
Define attribute using Boolean values
Yes (True): Perform auto associate.
No (False): Do not perform auto associate.
If the name of the attribute is specified, then auto associate depends on the attribute value. If not, then all imported objects are subject for auto association. If the attribute name in wpc_preferences.txt is invalid and throws an error, the import upon auto association throws an error. See the log for general conflicts for the invalid preferences content.
Once the CAD document and WTPart become associated, subsequent iterations are associated, regardless of the value of this parameter set in the import wpc_preferences.txt file.
This option becomes invalid upon import of the package on the target PLM system, if the import option to perform auto associate is turned off.
Depending on the preferences, WTPart might get created as a result of auto associate. The location for the WTPart is decided in the following order:
Windchill server-side preference Store New Parts with CAD Documents
Creo Packages preferences set in wpc_preferences.txt
*
If the WTPart location cannot be properly determined, auto associate fails and an error message appears.
If the auto associate option is set to Yes (True) to perform the auto association, but fails; the package being imported to the target PLM system fails to import and an error message appears.
If the CAD document is already associated with WTPart, subsequent iterations are always associated, regardless of the parameter set in the import wpc_preferences.txt.
Overridable conflicts can be set with auto associate using the import wpc_preferences.txt file.
When revise on CAD document happens at the time of import, by default, the associated WTPart also revises. This behavior can be turned off in wpc_preferences.txt.
If the baseline gets created upon import, it also includes the associated WTPart.
Check in comments added at the time of import become applied to CAD documents.
Synchronization to CAD document life cycle state will not be propagated to the associated WTPart.
The import validation step does not validate the WTPart association and is not reported in the pre-import validation process.
