Exporting a Package Example
In this example, a Creo Packages design partner wants to export a package containing Creo Parametric data of a complete bike assembly to another design partner or supplier for the purpose of sharing component information about the bike.
The design partner or supplier on the source PLM system exports the package using the default configuration option for the Creo Parametric data, names the package, and specifies the seed name.
WPCExport -u talva -p ptc -n crankset_asm_1800.asm -g 1102_1800_01
The following table contains essential arguments for this example WPCExport command:
Command Name
Argument
Description
WPCExport
-u
Use to specify the username.
-p
Use to specify the password. For increased security, you can choose to not include the password. The system prompts you for the password and mask the password characters that you enter.
-n
Use to specify the seed name.
-g
Use to specify the package name.
The successfully exported package containing the Creo Parametric model files and the associated metadata are available on the client machine for viewing and file transfer to the target PLM system.
Before sending the package to the target PLM system partner or supplier, review the Export and Export Post Reports.
Review the Export Report
The Export Report contains detailed information concerning export conditions, preferences, if any recipe files were used to export the package, and the export summary of the package. For example:

Review the Export Post Report
The export post report contains the Creo Parametric assemblies and components with various actions and revision values. The report might contain information concerning file names, owner revisions, owner iterations, owner life cycle, owner life cycle state, and owner location.

Send the Package to Target PLM Systems
The exported package can now be sent to another design partner or supplier for the sharing of component information on a target PLM system. Depending on the collaboration procedures you have established between the source and target system partners or suppliers, the package can be transferred using several mediums, including email, file transfer protocol (FTP), CD-ROM, or tape.
