The Items Tab
The Items tab contains a table displaying the children of a part selected in the part structure. Use this table to:
View attribute information about child parts in an assembly.
Add existing or new parts as children of the parent part.
Remove child parts from the parent part.
Edit attributes on the usage relationship between a child part in the table and the parent part selected in the part structure.
The following table describes the part attributes shown in the default table view on the Items tab. For a detailed description of all part attributes, see Part Attributes.
Attribute
Description
Item Number
(Optional)
References the callout for the part in the illustration associated with the parts list.
Item Sequence Number
The same Item Number can appear multiple times in a parts list. The value of Item Sequence Number specifies the placing of a specific part in the sequence of occurrences.
Indenture
A parts list can contain both a subassembly and its child parts. During publishing, when a subassembly's quantity is more than 1, a row is added to the parts list to show that the quantities of the child parts are based on one subassembly.
Part Number
The unique numeric identifier for the part. This attribute can be automatically supplied by a standard part number generator when parts are created in your system.
Organization ID
Identifies the organization that owns the part.
This column is included in default views of the Items tab when the Windchill preference Display > Expose Organization is set to Yes.
Name
The text identifier for the part. Does not have to be unique.
Quantity
Identifies the quantity of the part used within the assembly.
Default Unit
Unit of measurement for the quantity on the part. Select one from the drop-down menu.
The Service Parts preference Enable Default Unit Editing controls whether this value can be edited.

This is a part attribute. It cannot be applied to a usage of the part in a specific parts list. A change to the value of Default Unit perpetuates to all uses of the part.

Serviceable
Identifies whether the part can be serviced.
Illustrated
Identifies whether the part is illustrated in a representation.
Remarks
Comments about the part. Up to 200 characters can be entered.
